Resumen: Este trabajo examina una serie de tesis escritas por jóvenes investigadores durante la primera década del siglo XXI, a las que llamamos “archivos sin hogar”. La figura se desprende del mantra atribuido a Jorge Luis Borges: “la censura es la madre de la metáfora”. La censura es una fuerza encarnada, un agente real: las instituciones donde podrían albergarse las tesis han sido destruidas o reinicializadas. Ante tales desalojos, custodiar estos archivos resulta fundamental. Las tesis aquí reunidas revelan mucho sobre su momento histórico. Motivados por una profunda incomodidad ante las interpretaciones sobre la historia política y cultural reciente de Nicaragua, los investigadores evidencian en sus tesis el estado de crisis y devastación del país. La revisión de las tesis está organizada en cuatro secciones: 1) cultura y política; 2) género, sexualidades hetero y homoeróticas; 3) culturas letradas y subalternas: modernización y revolución; 4) instituciones posrevolucionarias.

Abstract: This work examines a series of theses about Nicaragua in order to keep a record of the intellectual work done by young people about the country and its political processes during the first ten years of the present century. We call these documents homeless files. The figure obeys Jorge Luis Borges’ attributed mantra: censorship is the mother of metaphor, in this case, incarnated force, positive agency: the institutions where they could have been housed have been destroyed or re-initialized. The series of investigations questioned many of the interpretations about national culture and history. Others addressed topics that were little or not discussed at all. They were summoned by a deep discomfort with the interpretations of the recent political and cultural history of Nicaragua. Many of these documents reveal the critical state of a devastated country. These theses are divided into four headings: 1) Culture and politics; 2) Gender, hetero and homo-erotic sexualities; 3) Literary and subaltern cultures: modernization and revolution; 4) Post-revolutionary institutions.
