Resumen: Como metáfora de subyugación y dominio, otrerizar es un dispositivo, una tecnología del saber-poder que liga sentidos de realidad al tiempo que contribuye a cohesionar el tejido social. En los procesos de otrerización deben reconocerse dos dimensiones: una la del dominio y la subalternización, y otra la de la conciencia de la identidad y el reconocimiento. En este ensayo se analizan distintos pasajes en las obras de autores literarios canónicos de la región para hacer ver divergentes modos de aproximación al otro: la vía del afecto y de la lírica que “des-otroriza” al otro (Salarrué, Asturias), la de la conciencia de la distancia y de la imposibilidad de la identificación (Dalton, Ramírez), y la de la desposesión de toda jerarquía y autoridad y la fusión con el otro (Galich).

Abstract: As a metaphor of subjugation and domination, “othering” is a mechanism, a technology of knowledge-power that links senses of reality while contributing to the cohesion of the social fabric. In the processes of “othering,” two dimensions must be recognized: one of domain and subalternity, and the other of awareness of identity and recognition. In this essay, different passages in the works of canonical literary authors of the region are analyzed to illustrate divergent ways of approaching the other: the path of affect and lyric that “de-alienates” the other (Salarrué, Asturias), that of the awareness of distance and the impossibility of identification (Dalton, Ramírez), and that of the self-dispossession of all hierarchy and authority and the fusion with the other (Galich).
