Padecer, cuidar, florecer: la narrativa de Jessica Isla

Suffering, Caregiving, Blossoming in Jessica Isla’s Narrative

Resumen: El artículo examina cómo Jessica Isla, en los cuentos de la colección Infinito cercano (2010) y en el relato “Correr desnuda” (2021) representa el cuidado y la posibilidad de incidir en una condición de desigualdad opresora. Para cumplir con este propósito y con la intención de evidenciar la perspectiva feminista de la autora, se hace referencia a los ensayos de Silvia Federici, Marcela Lagarde, Amaia Pérez Orozco y Rita Laura Segato. En los relatos por analizar, las protagonistas son casi siempre mujeres determinadas por relaciones patriarcales violentas, encerradas simbólica o materialmente en el hogar, paralizadas por el miedo. En algunos casos, sin embargo, estas circunstancias son temporales y las historias narran la transición del hogar como espacio privado al espacio público, es decir, de la constricción al libre despliegue del potencial de las protagonistas.

Abstract: Through an analysis of the short stories in the collection Infinito cercano (2010) and the story “Correr desnuda” (2021), this article examines how Jessica Isla represents the work of caregiving and the possibility of influencing a state of oppressive inequality. In order to achieve this purpose and with the goal of demonstrating the feminist perspective of the author, it builds on essays by Silvia Federici, Marcela Lagarde, Amaia Pérez Orozco and Rita Laura Segato. In the stories to be analyzed, the female protagonists are almost always under violent patriarchal control, shut away, symbolically or materially, in the home, paralyzed by fear. In some cases, however, these circumstances are temporary, and the stories narrate the transition from the home as private space to public space, that is, from constriction to the protagonists’ free exercise of their potential.
