Abstract: The perspective that supports this article begins with the idea that in the novel two different languages co-exist: on the one hand, the narration of actions of the main character; on the other, the fragments of testimony of the aboriginal massacre that occurred in Guatemala in the 1980s. Starting with this distinction, the fragments of the testimony constitute a marginal and fractured “minor” language (Deleuze and Guattari) within the novel, in opposition to the articulated narrative “major” language of the episodes. In this way, the idea of testimony in the novel is defined as the unfinished, as a language of rupture whose brevity and fragmentary nature expresses atrocity with a different and significant potency, Thus, the narration of the indigenous experience articulates via its own peculiar syntax and semantics a break within the Spanish language itself because it generates an act of deterritorialization of the major language; both form and meaning go beyond their usual limits.
