Resumen: En esta reseña, el autor presenta el ensayo de Sonja Stephenson Watson, The Politics of Race in Panama. (Afro-Hispanic and West Indian Literary Discourses of Contention), publicado en 2016. Discute su tesis principal según la cual los afrodescendientes hispanos estarían más identificados con el objetivo fundacional del Estado y los antillanos más preocupados por la “diáspora negra” alineándose a sí mismos con otros desplazados.

Abstract: In this review, the author presents Sonja Stephenson Watson’s essay The Politics of Race in Panama (Afro-Hispanic and West Indian Literary Discourses of Contention), published in 2016. He discusses his main thesis, according to which the Hispanic afro-descendants would be more identified with the fundational objective of the State and the West Indians most concerned about the “black diaspora”, aligning themselves with other displaced people.
